DYERSVILLE, Iowa – The Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Discipline Board has suspended the license of Dyersville lawyer Marc Casey for two months after a string of ethics violations.
Casey, who has practiced law for 34 years, is accused of misrepresenting a client in a personal injury case in 2001, and neglect and the premature taking of fees in an estate case in 2004.
The personal injury case involved a woman who was injured when a porch post fell and hit her on the head. Casey was hired to represent the woman but failed to advance the case or inform his client of an upcoming trial in a timely manner, according to the ruling.
In the estate case, Casey is accused of taking the fee for the probate case before the final report was filed.
